Prof. Erez Gal from Ben Gurion University visited the two pilot sites in Eilat and Eilot regions in order to supervise the installed metering and weather system equipment and speak with the school administration. The aim of the visit was also to raise awareness on the importance of adopting sustainable energy behaviours and discuss energy challenges of the school buildings.

Yeelim and Nof Edom schools were chosen to be the cross-border pilot site of BERLIN project in Israel where integrated photovoltaics (BIPVs) and building – applied photovoltaics (BAPVs) and an energy storage system (ESS) will be installed in order to convert this school into an energy independent building. The bifacial photovoltaic (PV) panels will be installed on an open courtyard adjacent to the school. The PV modules will also be utilised as a shelter from the sun and high radiation, while PVs will consist of a mix of technologies of different levels of transparency. In this way, the infrastructure can also serve for educational purposes.
