COMMON workshop: “Fishing and marine litter”. The impact of marine litter on the supply chain, priorities and proposals starting from the first COMMON monitoring data in Italy.

The Italian partners of the COMMON project, Legambiente and the University of Siena - Department of Physics, Earth, and Environmental Sciences – organise the workshop "Fishing and marine litter. The impact of marine litter on the supply chain, priorities and proposals starting from the first COMMON monitoring data in Maremma", which will be held the 1st of April, at 9.30 am (Sala delle Colonne of the Grosseto University Centre, Municipality of Grosseto, Italy).

Promoted as part of the ENI CBCMED project "COMMON - Coastal management and Monitoring Network", the events aim to be an opportunity for in-depth analysis and discussion on the problems related to marine litter and their effects on coastal ecosystems. We will start from recent regulatory changes and from the monitoring carried out, as part of the project, by the Department of Physics, Earth, and Environmental Sciences of the University of Siena in the Italian Tuscany area.

During the seminar, the first data on the concentration of waste found during the monitoring carried out on our coasts and the analyses carried out on sample fish species by the University of Siena will be presented. It will also be an opportunity for capitalization with other projects that have involved the same pilot area to support the sustainability of fishing and its supply chain.
