The partners of BERLIN project are announcing the launch of the Hub of Intelligent Utilisation of Photovoltaic Technology in the Mediterranean region (IUPVMED). The objective of the hub is to investigate the integration of photovoltaics (PV), energy storage systems (ESS) and demand side management (DSM) under the concept of a nanogrid.

The creation of the IUPVMED hub aims at promoting the wider adoption of distributed energy resources (DER) in the Mediterranean (MED) area in the form of PV+ESS+DSM. The hub will be utilised for sharing information on regional legislation among the participating countries for the promotion of the technology hybrid that will developed. The IUPVMED hub aims at becoming a leading resource for supporting research collaboration, dissemination and technology transfer in the MED area.

The members of the Hub consist of related stakeholders, such as employees of distribution and transmission system operators (DSO & TSO), employees of the regulatory authorities, consultants, installers, and engineers in the wider field of DERs, as well as members of the scientific community. Through this hub, the members can benefit by increasing their contacts with key stakeholders from the other participating countries, demonstrating their work on related topics and expanding it through collaboration with other experts within the MED region. They can also benefit and gain experience from the analysis of the current regional situation regarding PV+ESS+DSM systems in the participating countries.

The first meeting of the Hub will be held virtually on the 30 November 2020 at 09:00 (CET). The main results of the discussions will be also published.
