The municipality of Anabta, located in the Tulkram Governorate, and the Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie have signed an agreement in the framework of the DECOST project. This agreement  paves the way for the implementation of a composting plant that will allow the treatment and valorization of organic waste produced by local households and re-use for urban agriculture.

Similar pilot activities will be carried out in Catalonia, Italy,  and Jordan with the aim of inspiring more Mediterranean municipalities.

DECOST seeks for an impact that goes beyond the duration of the project itself, transforming on the long run the framework of organic waste management in four Mediterranean municipalities. The funding from the ENI CBC Med Programmme will serve to implement a closed-loop system of organic waste valorization, integrating decentralized home and community composting systems with urban agriculture.
