FISH MED NET supports storage and preservation of fish catches in Gaza

In the framework of the cluster of fishery diversification about services to community, Al Tawfiq Cooperative society received a subgrant from the FISH MED NET Partner the Economic and Social Development Centre of Palestine. The aim is to improve the storage and preservation of fish caught by fishermen and to support the sustainability of the fishing industry in Gaza.

The idea of the subgrant aimed at rehabilitating and developing fish cold storage with energy-saving devices and solar systems. Storing and preserving daily fish cau ght by fisheries, which are consumed by fish markets in both Gaza Strip and West Bank.

This subgrant is a perfect example of a well-structured and effective Public-Private Partnership between the Al Tawfiq Cooperative and the General Directorate of Fisheries in the Ministry of Agriculture.

Moreover, this subgrant activity is important not only to support the sustainability of the fishing industry in Gaza, but also to contribute to the comprehensive improvment of the society and to provide services to community; implementing innovative solutions.
