Discover new ways to create and develop your BEESiness in Egypt through MedBEESinessHubs “hands and crafts” workshops in Alexandria

The end of the first year of the EU-funded MedBEESinessHubs project provides many opportunities to 100+ SMEs, beekeepers, youth and women from five Mediterranean countries to learn new skills and techniques towards creating sustainable destinations with a focus on the honeybee and its products in the Mediterranean.

Understanding honeybees requires first learning to appreciate these wonderful insects with a nectar-gathering, pollinating, and honey-making drive. In a hive, a single honeybee will produce enough honey to fill a twelfth of a teaspoon over the course of its four to sixteen week lifetime. The honey produced by a single bee may only amount to one-twelfth of a teaspoon, but every bee is vital to the hive's survival. Obviously, a small number of bees cannot do the work of a hive. Every member of the hive contributes to the overall success of the colony.

The same applies to human beings: one individual contribution to the world may be insignificant, but working together can make it happen for the whole society, country and thus the world. Themed “From People to People," the MedBEESinessHubs project aims to help beekeepers, youth, and women in Cyprus, Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, and Italy gaining knowledge about honeybee products and starting or growing their own BEESinesses. Our Journey into the creation of BEESinesses starts in Egypt today with announcing set of technical handicrafts training workshops covering the history of honeybees and the way forward as well as the hands-on activities on easy-to-make cosmetics, food products, drawing on furniture, beeswax gifts and accessories making, Api-tourism and much more.

 

After the technical crafts workshops, participants will be invited to attend the necessary business and finances sessions to improve the management skills and for developing new business ideas. As part of the project, MedBEESinessHubs will award up to €50,000 in grants to young people to help them develop their Beesinesses and products to allow them to advance to the next level.
