CROSSDEV: Familiarization trip for journalists in Palestine
In the frame of the CROSSDEV project, CISP – Comitato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo dei Popoli – and local partner Palestinian Heritage Trail are conducting a guided familiarization trip for local and international journalists and media representatives on April 11th, 2021.
The trip is designed to promote the project and the touristic attractiveness of the interested communities/areas and increase visibility among local and international media. Palestinian and international journalists will be invited to join a one-day field trip to get to know the CROSSDEV Project and its partners, and to see the Palestinian Heritage Trail as a relevant touristic product. They will be invited to discover the 50 km new segment of the trail that is being developed as part of the project, and to meet different stakeholders from the involved local communities.
Always in compliance with all health and safety rules and anti-Covid restrictions, participants will be taken by bus to the starting location, Surif.
The day will start with a short 1:30 – 2 hours guided hike in Surif, Hebron. The participants will be provided with relevant information and explanations about the project, its objectives in terms of development of sustainable tourism and empowerment of the local communities along the trail.
After the hike, participants will be accompanied to visit locals that have been supported by CROSSDEV in developing their services for tourists along this segment and to visit some of the relevant historical and cultural sites in the area. During the day, participants will stop at one of the partner women center and homestay in Beit Ula for a traditional lunch.
This trip will allow participants to experience hiking the PH Trail first hand, introduce locals and international to the Palestinian rich culture and hidden treasures, and get them to meet people of the area. Participants will learn about local services and products, and hopefully support them by spreading the news and purchasing their local products.
