Co-Evolve4BG in Tunisia presents a Toolkit to assess the sustainability of coastal/maritime tourism development

In the context of Co-Evolve4BG project, the National Institute of Marine Sciences and Technologies of Tunisia (INSTM) organized a workshop entitled “Co-Evolve4BG – Djerba Toolkit” in Tunis on the 8th and 9th of December 2022.
The event brought together 45 people, with diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise including local actors from Djerba such as representatives from municipalities, members of NGOs, representatives from the local tourism administrations…
The objective was to promote the “General Toolkit” developed in the context of the project which aims to assess Coastal/Maritime tourism sustainable development. Thus, aspects related to the Toolkit structure and the main target users were addressed. In addition, steps related to using the Toolkit were largely explained while interacting with the attendees.
Local actors from Djerba and experts who attended the event expressed their high expectations and clear hopes towards incorporating the developed tool in their own process of managing coastal/maritime destinations.
The event was closed with recommendations to further improve the Toolkit.
