Advancing gender equality in the context of the climate crisis and disaster risk reduction is one of the greatest global challenges of the 21st century.
Women are increasingly being recognized as more vulnerable to climate change impacts than men, as they constitute the majority of the world’s poor and are more dependent on the natural resources which climate change threatens the most.
At the same time, women and girls are effective and powerful leaders and change-makers for climate adaptation and mitigation. They are involved in sustainability initiatives around the world, and their participation and leadership results in more effective climate action.

NAWAMED project it’s one of these actions that around the world make the difference, addressing effort in particular to face environmental related issue on water scarcity and non-conventional water use, involving at technical and decision-making level many women!

According to this and for celebrating this important day, the NAWAMED team at the Center for Water Research and Technologies, CERTE, decided to honour women decision makers and actors on the valorisation of non-conventional water in Tunisia. They are engaged women involved in NAWAMED activities who participated in the "decision makers" workshop organized by the CERTE team on March 8, 2022.  Indeed 73% of the participants were women. We were delighted to celebrate the Tunisian woman with flowers and to recognize their efforts for the preservation of a valuable resource and the protection of the environment for future generations.

Water means life, women mean future!
