The NAWAMED project participated in the Envirofest from 11th to 16th December 2020 at the Tunis City of Culture with its local partner, the Centre for Research and Water Technologies (CERTE), by broadcasting a recorded presentation on screen related to the objectives of the project and the nature-based solutions (NBS) for water treatment. A 3-D poster of the living green wall, which will be implemented in Tunisia thanks to the NAWAMED project, was displayed at the “Environmental Village” of the Envirofest.

Visitors to Envirofest event, had  the opportunity to discuss with CERTE team and to know better the project through communication material and technical posters. CERTE introduced for the first time in Tunisia to the wide public the NBS, and they stimulated the interest of different stakeholders in these innovative, environmental and friendly technologies for wastewater recycling. The event was an occasion for the CERTE team to improve awareness of young people on water scarcity and the need to reuse treated wastewater in urban context. Water saving kits were distributed to participants.

The Envirofest event is an annual cultural, educational and cinematographic event organized by the Tunisian Cinematheque that provides a platform for understanding and debate on environmental issues. For this 3rd edition, nine films from different countries  were screened on issues related to the environment, including global warming, desertification, plastic waste, etc. The festival also inlcuded a parallel section "Envirofest Kids" to raise awareness of the environmental cause among children, through film screenings, but also recycling workshops.
