From today, you can look at the Mediterranean Sea under a new lens. An interactive map is now active on the COMMON platform, which tracks the results of all monitoring activities around the Mediterranean Sea promoted by the COMMON project partners.

The interactive map aims to share data and good practices on marine litter in the Mediterranean, and offers a common methodology for organizing cleaning days and monitoring activities, in order to have the data in the same format and to make clean up events in a coordinated way .

The map, the core of the platform, allows visitors to obtain information on the places where the activities of the COMMON project took place. The results of the Beach Litter monitoring and cleani up days for all the Mediterranean coasts promoted by the Clean Up The Med campaign are already online. The sampling areas of commercial fish species will soon be included - useful for evaluating the presence of microplastics and their impact on species - and the Marine Turtle Rescue Centers involved in the project.
