MED-QUAD partners plan first living lab on water use optimization

The first meeting of MED-QUAD project Steering Committee was held online on the 2nd and 3rd of June 2021.

During the 2 days meeting, participating partners from Italy, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Tunisia, and Greece, discussed the difficulties they faced due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the way to proceed with the next activities. All partners presented the activities that they implemented: The University of L’Aquila (Italy) outlined the importance of the equipment required for the Living Labs’ operation and presented the questionnaire that it designed for monitoring the quality and quantity of drinking water. The partners discussed the challenges that each country faces, regarding the management of drinking water and mentioned similarities and differences, among the participating countries. The University of Sousse from Tunisia referred to the establishment of the City Development Group (CDG), an important initiative that aims to secure active participation and cooperation between the 4 fundamental components of innovation that form the Quadruple helix, which are the Universities/Research centers, the State, the Businesses, and the Community (local government).

Epimorfotiki Kilkis (Lead beneficiary from Greece) gave its presentation regarding the technical aspects of the project, the activities implemented during the project’s duration, the results of the first semester and the financial report of the project.

All dissemination activities were presented thoroughly, and the importance of the dissemination activities was highlighted. The presentation also highlighted, that producing quality results for local sustainable development and innovation in the Mediterranean, is equally important as the dissemination of those activities in local and European communities, for future use.

During the meeting partners had the opportunity to ask questions about technical and financial issues to Mr. Khaled Elsaadany, Senior Expert of the Joint Technical Secretariat (JTS).

The meeting was successfully completed with the planning of the next actions.
