Grade A+ is a startup that has come up with a solution to a problem that has been plaguing the environment for years. The company is using sheep wool to create products that are beneficial to society while also reducing environmental pollution. This eco-innovative startup has been involved in the GIMED project, which has provided  the necessary boost in knowledge and expertise to help the project grow.

As Grade A+ founder Jocelyne Saade, puts it:  “We decided to learn business essentials by applying to the GIMED project and surrounding ourselves with experts. The most valuable skill learned in this project is the one that you can’t really hire anyone to do: eco-design.”

Founder Jocelyne Saade is a mechanical engineer with a master's degree in renewable energy. Her mission was to find a solution to farmers' limited income and the burning of 2,500 tons of sheep wool annually. Grade A+ collects wool from the mountains and fields, pays shepherds, and upcycles the wool to produce blankets, roll insulation, and pellet fertilizers. Jocelyne Saade's innovative approach is making a positive impact in the industry.

Despite its admirable mission, Grade A+ faced various obstacles in its establishment. Finding a technical consultant and developing products through trial-and-error was time-consuming. In addition, the company encountered difficulty in machine selection due to Lebanon's limited industrial production. However, with the support of Berytech involved in the GIMED project, Grade A Plus participated in the Ecomondo exhibition in Rimini, Italy, where they met with big manufacturers and learned about innovative solutions.

“With the right knowledge and expertise, an idea can become a successful startup that can make a significant impact on society”, says Grade A+. The company's unique products reduce environmental pollution while also generating income for shepherds. By providing support to startups, programs like GIMED and other ENI CBC Med initiatives help pave the way for companies like Grade A+ to change the world for the better.
