IPMED in Tunisia gathered key recommendations to improve awareness on intellectual property

The Tunis Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIT), the Tunisian partner in IPMED organized an awareness session on Intellectual Property as a support tool for innovation and competitiveness on Thursday 16/03/2023 at the Hotel Sousse Palace.

 
The session started with a presentation on the project and its progress given jointly by Mr. Med Souhaib HSINI, Director General of the CCIT and project coordinator and by Mr. Med Aymen ZERMDINI , project manager.
A brief about the Intellectual Property Ecosystem in Tunisia was presented by Ms Afifa BEZZINE from the National Agency for the Promotion of Scientific Research (ANPR).
An overview on Copyright and Neighboring Rights was presented by Mr. Mohamed Amairi from the Tunisian Organization for Copyright and Neighboring Rights  (OTDAV). 
An intervention by Ms. Samia Noureddine the director of Sousse business incubator technology was made about the supporting Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation for startups and women entrepreneurs, as part of this day.
Ms Houda BARKAOUI from the Department of Industrial Property, gave a brief about the protection of aspects of Industrial Property.
Two of the winners of the IPMED Sub-Grant, BIODEX and El Fellaga, shared their experience with the Attendees through their participation in the IPMED grant.


The session was an opportunities to gather recommendations such as encouraging Tunisian banks to create tools for Intellectual Property Protection, boosting the IP Ecosystem in Tunisia to implement statistics to identify the state of the IP and patents, focusing on Tunisian start-ups and creating the patent market in Tunisia.
