The Association d'Education Relative à l'Environnement (AERE), partner of RESMYLE, is organising a practical training workshop in the field from 22 February to 8 March 2023 in order to create a tourist and cultural circuit in the Medina of Hammamet in conjunction with numerous partners.

The objective of the workshop is to contribute to the promotion of cultural tourism in the city of Hammamet. Indeed, Hammamet is a very popular tourist town in the Mediterranean but its reputation has suffered for two decades from an image of mass tourism with its negative environmental, cultural, social and economic impacts.

The workshop aims to mobilise inhabitants, cultural and tourism actors and decision-makers to promote quality tourism in Hammamet. A tourism that enhances the rich tangible and intangible heritage of the Medina.

The main issue of this workshop is how to present to today's visitors the heritage of a Medina founded in the 9th century?

The participants will discover the tangible and intangible heritage of the Medina of Hammamet, raise awareness and mobilise local actors around the issues of heritage tourism in the area and propose concrete tools for the tourist development of the Medina's heritage.

Experts will intervene throughout the workshop at key moments in order to feed the reflection, to answer the expectations and questions of the participants and to ensure that the workshop is also a training opportunity for the young participants (learning by doing).

The workshop participants will be able to acquire the following skills

- Introduction to heritage, architecture and sustainable tourism

- Introduction to photography

- Familiarisation with field survey methods

- Development of inventory sheets, maps, tours

- Collective work, time management and management of possible conflicts, etc.

The workshop is open to young people between 18 and 30 years old, not in education, training or employment (NEETs). The working languages are French, Arabic and, secondarily, English.
