Legambiente Onlusas Lead Beneficiary of the COMMON project, and the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM) in Bari, as official partner of the COMMON project, will hold "From waste to resource - Research and innovation to ensure sustainability and foster integrated waste management within the Network of coastal cities", an event that will take place on Monday, December 12 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Casa Rossa Ximenes in Castiglione Della Pescaia.

Following the first held in Salento last year, this is the second meeting for establishing the Mediterranean network of coastal cities against marine litter.

The event is crucial as the Mediterranean Sea is in emergency mode, and urgent action is needed to fight plastic pollution and marine litter because we can only achieve great results if we’re together.

The Network of Coastal Cities is a tool that focuses on sharing virtuous projects and on transferring innovative strategies and solutions to areas facing the same critical issues.
The activity is among the actions under the COMMON (COastal Management and MOnitoring Network for tackling marine litter in the Mediterranean Sea) project, financed by the European Union through the ENI CBC MED cross-border cooperation program, and dedicated to tackling the problem of marine litter through an integrated approach that also enhances the role of coastal cities.

Will attend the event, among others:

  • Giorgio Zampetti general director of Legambiente,
  • Elena Nappi mayor of Castiglione Della Pescaia,
  • Roberto Chilosi, University of Tuscia studies,
  • Emanuele Zendri, Legambiente technical and scientific expert for the COMMON project.
