Under the patronage of the Lebanese Ministries of Labor and Social Affairs, the Business Consultancy and Training Services (BCTS), Lebanese partner of MoreThanAJob, held its 3rd Press Conference at the Key Hotel – Corniche du Fleuve in Lebanon on Tuesday October 4, 2022 under the title “Promoting Social and Economic Solidarity for the Unemployed, the Uneducated and Refugees”.

The conference aimed at shedding light on the progress of MoreThanAJob project and its 2 subgrantees in Lebanon. It included discussions about the next venture exercises for the upcoming six months, and the achievements of the 2 subgrantees in Lebanon. It included speeches by the representatives of the ministries and MoreThanAJob project’s 2 subgrantees in Lebanon (PHI Group and Common Effort).

The event included the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Social Affairs, and the General Confederation of Lebanese Workers, the General Director of the Vocational Education as well as a number of stakeholders, mayors, associations, and members of BCTS.

As part of this conference, participants engaged in an efficient dialogue about how to enhance the psychosocial well-being of vulnerable women from the most deprived areas of Lebanon through Peer-to-Peer (P2P) counseling. It promoted discussions among the participants on how to strengthen the economic resilience in Lebanon through social business development workshops. Among the several issues discussed, a special attention has been given to how foster cooperation between emerging social initiatives and relevant private and public sector stakeholders.

Furthermore, the attendees identified methods and strategies to improve laborer’s health and safety conditions through awareness sessions and improve workers’ skills and increase their accessibility to decent work opportunities.
