The German-Arab Chamber of Industry & Commerce - AHK Egypt, partner of the TEX-MED ALLIANCES project is organizing the Capitalization Forum and final event of this EU-funded project.  The event will take place from 4 to 5 October 2022 under the title: TEX-MED ALLIANCES: Towards a sustainable Fashion & Textile Industry across the Mediterranean at the InterContinental Cairo Semiramis Hotel in Cairo, Egypt.

This event targets companies, institutions, also scholars, consultants, and organizations working in the textile industry in the seven Mediterranean countries involved in the project: Egypt, Greece, Jordan, Italy, Palestine, Tunisia, and Spain.

The closing event aims to provide and showcase the participating companies with the project’s best practices and methodologies in the field of textiles and fashion, as well as give inspiration through the experiences gained during the past three years and the success stories of small and medium companies who participated to the project’s initiatives. For example, the collaboration between two beneficiary companies, Hilaturas Jesús Rubio, and Silvia Calvo Barcelona have resulted in the development of recycled yarn, made from jute from coffee sacks. In a future article, we will explain many more examples of the successes achieved by the TEX-MED ALLIANCES project.

In the words of the organizers of the Capitalization Forum, "the invitation is extended to SMEs from the whole value chain of the textile sector, starting from raw materials-including dyes and other finishing treatments all the way up to retail including fashion design".

As TEX-MED ALLIANCES coordinator project, Mrs. Susanna Leonelli explains, "the purpose of the Final Conference is to assess the development and the status attained by the project as well as to envisage the future developments of the Initiatives that are going to turn into long-term cross border cooperations among final beneficiaries, in different forms: alliance, cluster, network, partnership, etc."

The Final Conference will end with three Closing Meetings. One for each initiative developed by the project: internationalization (TheMedNew), innovation (Health Textile Digital Cluster at the Mediterranean and Dyeing Small Batches), and circular economy (Leftovers platform).
