More than 40 public institutions, 3 universities and research centres and one NGO are interested in the PPI4MED project in Jordan

The Jordanian partner of PPI4MED, The National Center for Research and Development (NCRD),  organized a series of face-to-face meetings to talk about the project “Technological transfer and commercialization of public research results through PPI in the Mediterranean region PPI4MED”.

The meetings took place in Amman during  April – June 2022 and was attended by more than 40 representatives from 11 governmental institutions(The Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO), the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Center for Innovation, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, the Water Authority, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, the Ministry of Health, the Public Procurement department, Jordan Valley Authority, Energy & Minerals Regulatory Commission), 3 universities and research centers (The University of Jordan, Al-Balqa Applied University, Zarqa University), and one NGO (ICT Association of Jordan int@j).

Engineer Maha Al-Aqra, PPI4MED project coordinator in Jordan, from the NCRD presented the project and its objectives and addressed the mechanism of participation in the project, and the opportunities available to different institutions to benefit from the project capacity building and pilot phases.

She also presented the NCRD sector analysis review conducted for health, energy, agriculture, and water sectors as a baseline study for the next brainstorming sessions (between main project stakeholders public, private, and research centres), and asked for their participation in the online survey through this link https://forms.gle/krTpNDCTUh3wpd2p6

The results of the survey will help in analyzing the current status of the scientific research outputs, technology transfer and the opportunities for public procurement innovation needs, and the potential of matching available patents, products co-designed with private SMEs that could result in spinoffs and implementation the public procurement innovation model in the country.

NRCD is satisfied with the good reception of the conferences organised during these months, both by the public entities that have participated and by the universities, research centres and NGOs that have shown interest.
