As part of the innovative development fostered by the ENI CBC MED Programme, iHERITAGE team is currently working on new tools for the enhancement of Mediterranean Diet, inscribed in 2013 on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Thanks to the dialogue activated between SMEs, researchers and consumers, the Network of Castles and Medieval Towns, project partner in Italy, is working not only on the creation of augmented contents for the promotion of food products, but also to the implementation of new sales channels to support the development and growth of local SMEs. Thanks to the development of a Memorandum of Understanding with enterprises/companies/producers, iHERITAGE will work for connecting  SME and customers thanks to the use of digital solution and innovative marketing; showing the production process and the supply chain guaranteeing the quality of the final product through augmented storytelling; developing an  immersive experience linked to the e-commerce process.

At the centre of the research, the different uses of chili peppers in the Mediterranean Diet and in combination with many other elements such as olive oil, honey, salt, preserves etc.

By establishing cross-border living labs for research and innovation, new sales channels, augmented content, co-operation agreements and so much more, the iHERITAGE project aims to support the technological transfer and commercialization of new Augmented and Virtual Reality tools to improve access to Mediterranean UNESCO cultural heritage through augmented and immersive experiences. The iHERITAGE team is focused on promoting the Mediterranean Diet and its value to Mediterranean cultural identity. The iHERITAGE ICT Mediterranean platform for UNESCO World Heritage is a key EU initiative funded by the ENI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme.
