From the 27th of June to the 1st of July 2022, the United Nations organize the Ocean Conference in Lisbon (Portugal), a key event to further drive the action of the global community towards healthy oceans.

As the oceans are facing unprecedented threats as a result of human activities, the conference will seek to propel much needed science-based innovative solutions aimed at starting a new chapter of global ocean action.

On the 28th of June from 9:30 to 11:00 AM (CEST), ENI CBC Med will participate in one of the side-events of the Ocean Conference dedicated to an utmost important challenge for the Mediterranean and for the Programme: marine litter.

The event “Science and awareness: building Mediterranean networks against marine litter” is co-organized by the Italian environmetal NGO Legambiente, Lead Beneficiary of COMMON project, the University of Siena (Italy), Lead Beneficiary of Plastic Busters Cap project, and the Union for the Mediterranean. It will allow participants and the audience to have a useful discussion about marine litter with different actors that, in their various capacities (institutional and not), are working for the protection of the Mediterranean.

The different sessions will feature representatives from the European Commission, DG MARE and DG Research and Innovation, as well as from the ENI CBC MED Programme and other programmes and initiatives.

Join us online on 28 June from 9:30 to11:00 AM (CEST) to learn more about the importance of promoting regional cooperation to protect the Mediterranean Sea.
