What about the hydrogeological instability in Ligurian Region?!

Thank’s to the workshop S.T.R.O.N.G. for Shape The Region Of New Generation organised by our partner Cooperativa Formazione Lavoro e Cooperazione Impresa Sociale (CFLC), in Genova from the 13th until the 26th of September 2021, 10 young participants were made aware of the problem, learn techniques to counteract it and learn new skills for job and relations.

The workshop was divided in two items connected with the Ligurian problem.

During the first week, we focused on the theme of the mountains: management and prevention of landslides problems and overflow of rivers. So the participants learned some techniques through activities animated by Azienda Agricola La Tabacca and Cartiera di Mele - factories of the region which conciliated the hydrogeological problems with the opportunity of creating jobs:
-    Construction of piling / dry stone walls to prevent landslides;
-    Cleaning paths;
-    Targeted and localized cultivation of fruit trees;
-    Paper recycling through the power of river water (they were created by the postcards guys).

Participants were really excited about the “Tabacca” project, indeed Fatima and Ricardo (two participants of the workshop) told us that they would like to do this job in the future! La Tabacca is an example of factory that has redeveloped a mountain area making it safe: they clean the trails and they build dry stone walls to counteract landslides.

The second important item is the sea which was dealt through numerous guided tours such as the Museum of the Sea and the Aquarium of Genova. Aquarium of Genova is one of the most important aquarium that prevent the biodiversity loss. Biodiversity is really important to contrast the hydrogeological problem. In relation with this argument, the group visited some sites where floods hit coasts the most through the power of the sea which destroyed shores and street as in Portofino, Punta Manara and Voltri.

Participants acquired new skills creating new opportunities of job as:
-    retraining of agricultural land;
-    management of forest and mountain resources;
-    management and maintenance of the territory;
-    creation of manufacturing products with recycling material.

The participants can now create their own businesses through the care of the territory in which they live.

The participants were satisfied and enthusiastic about having undertaken this beautiful experience with CFLC and RESMYLE, some have argued that it was a pity that the project lasted only two weeks!

L'instabilité hydrogéologique dans la région de Ligurie

Grâce à l'atelier pratique de formation sur terrain S.T.R.O.N.G. (Shape The Region Of New Generation) qui pourrait se traduire comme "Façonner la région de la nouvelle génération" organisé par Cooperativa Formazione Lavoro e Cooperazione Impresa Sociale (CFLC) et a eu lieu à Gênes du 13 au 26 septembre 2021, 10 jeunes participants ont été sensibilisés au problème, ont appris des techniques pour le contrer et ont acquis de nouvelles compétences pour leur travail.

L'atelier était divisé en deux parties liées au problème de la Ligurie.

Pendant la première semaine, le thème central a été la montagne : gestion et prévention des problèmes de glissements de terrain et de débordement des rivières. Les participants ont donc appris quelques techniques à travers des activités animées par Azienda Agricola La Tabacca et Cartiera di Mele, des entreprises de la région qui ont concilié les problèmes hydrogéologiques avec l'opportunité de créer des emplois :
- Construction de pilotis / murs de pierres sèches pour prévenir les glissements de terrain ;
- Nettoyage des chemins ;
- Culture ciblée et localisée d'arbres fruitiers ;
- Recyclage du papier grâce à la force de l'eau de la rivière (ils ont été créés par les gars des cartes postales).

Les participants ont été vraiment enthousiasmés par le projet Tabacca, en effet Fatima et Ricardo (deux participants de l'atelier) nous ont dit qu'ils aimeraient faire ce travail à l'avenir ! La Tabacca est un exemple d'entreprise qui a réaménagé une zone de montagne en la rendant sûre : ils nettoient les sentiers et construisent des murs de pierres sèches pour contrer les glissements de terrain.

Le deuxième élément important est la mer, qui a été abordée à travers de nombreuses visites guidées telles que le Musée de la mer et l'Aquarium de Gênes. L'Aquarium de Gênes est l'un des aquariums les plus importants qui peut avoir le rôle de prévenir la perte de biodiversité. La biodiversité joue un rôle important pour contrer le problème hydrogéologique. Le groupe a aussi visité des sites où les inondations ont le plus touché les côtes à cause de la puissance de la mer qui a détruit les rivages et les rues de Portofino, Punta Manara et Voltri.

Les participants ont acquis de nouvelles compétences créant de nouvelles opportunités d'emploi comme :
- reconversion des terres agricoles ;
- gestion des ressources forestières et de montagne
- gestion et entretien du territoire ;
- création de produits manufacturés avec des matériaux de recyclage.

Les participants peuvent maintenant créer leurs propres entreprises en prenant soin du territoire dans lequel ils vivent.

Les garçons étaient satisfaits et enthousiastes d'avoir entrepris cette belle expérience avec la CFLC et RESMYLE, certains ont dit que c'était dommage que le projet n'ait duré que deux semaines !
