International training on fishery diversification

Within the FISH MED NET project, the Partner CIHEAM Bari organized International and local/national training addressing the issue of fishery diversification activities. The training targeted trainers and mentors who are in charge of implementing a local training to fishermen, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and business organizations/cooperatives on the fishery sector of the target territories of the project. The main training objective is to increase the level of training of fishers by supporting diversification through the development of complementary activities related to the main activity of fishing. The training focus on different areas of expertise to strengthen the skills of the beneficiaries and broaden their knowledge through training sessions led by international experts in the fishery sector. The e-training is available in all the languages of the project (It,En,Fr,Ar).

Awareness campaign toolkit for school

MedArtSal aims to promote the sustainable development of artisanal salinas, providing concrete support on economic, environmental and governance issues. Addressing common challenges in four Mediterranean regions (Italy, Spain, Lebanon and Tunisia), the project has promoted the development of a sustainable and adaptable management model fostering the territorial valorisation of artisanal salinas. As part of the project, campaigns were created to contribute to raising awareness in the school sector (questionnaire and toolkit for students). Interviewes have been conducted with teachers to understand their attitude to promote artisanal salt usage to their students and to evaluate their interest to participate in educational tourism in salinas. The collection of the answers allowed the realisation of tools and the final toolkit for school. Questionnaires have been built to be also informative, creating a condition of “thinking in the theme” approach.

MedSNAIL factsheets of quality products belonging to the Mediterranean culture, history and traditions.

As an alternative to the MedSNAIL Geodatabase, factsheets have been published with information on Ark of Taste products identified through MedSNAIL. This is a more visual and easy-to-share tool that describes the nature, production process and history of these products. The Ark of Taste is a Slow Food initiative created to highlight the existence of quality products belonging to cultures, history and traditions around the world, which are at risk of disappearing within a few generations.
