It cannot only be an easy slogan: “Tourism for all” means making tourism enjoyable for every segment of society, whether the tourist is a young or elderly person, a wheelchair user, a visually or hearing-impaired person...
In tourism, the word “accessibility” is crucial. It refers to the physical accessibility to infrastructures, facilities, and services at the tourist site as well as accessibility to information regarding the site itself and the different ways it can be experienced according to the needs and preferences of each tourist.
Accessibility is absolute key not only to deliver the best possible experience tailored for each person, but also to make tourism an economic asset and an added value for all destinations and their locals.
It is with this idea in mind, that The Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan (JREDS) – Aqaba-based partner of the CROSSDEV project – will conduct a workshop on June 21st, 2021 together with the Ajyal Charity Association, a local organisation dedicated to the needs of disabled people, to discuss and understand their desires and requirements when touring around archaeological sites such as Aqaba.
It will be yet another occasion to showcase the CROSSDEV project, its objectives and – moreover – its willingness and ability to include all segments of the community within its actions and goals.
