 المحتوى متاح باللغة الإنجليزية

In celebration of World Heritage Day that falls on April 18th, 2021, CROSSDEV’s project partner JREDS – The Royal Marine Conservation Society – will conduct a number of volunteers for a tour around the city of Aqaba, south Jordan.
In consideration of the start of Ramadan, the tour will be held on April 12th.  The group will visit one of the most important historical places of the city, the Aqaba Castle, and will learn how to install nails inside the castle yard, which is one of the little-known experiences in the city of Aqaba. The group will then move to “Productive Kitchen”, when local women will show how to cook “Aqabawi Bukhari”.

This year’s World Heritage Day theme is "Complex pasts: diverse futures". Our ancestors gave us a rich cultural past and their efforts should surely be preserved. Human heritage and its enduring legacy are the wealth of the whole world. Ancient monuments and sculptures define the past, but now it’s time for collective efforts to build a culture-friendly ecosystem. It’s our responsibility.

CROSSDEV’s goal for this tour day is to spread awareness and increase the visibility, attractiveness, and promotion of historical sites around Aqaba and to learn how to preserve our rich heritage for future generations.
