MED4EBMin Tunisia organises a training on Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries (EAF)
Under the MED4EBM project, the Institut National des Sciences et Technologies de la Mer in Tunisia conducts a training on the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries (EAF). The purpose of the Ecosystem approach to fisheries is to plan, develop and manage fisheries in a manner that addresses the multiple needs and desires of societies, without jeopardizing the options for future generations to benefit from the full range of goods and services provided by marine ecosystems
Objectives
The main objective of this training is to help participants to plan and implement the ecosystem approach to fisheries in Kneiss Islands region by providing them with the required methodologies and management tools to ensure sustainable exploitation of the target species as well as the whole ecosystem, especially since fishing represents the most important economic activity in this region. In addition, participants will be familiarized with the different definitions of EAF, be aware of the importance of the human dimension and of the information system required in this management process.
