Med Pearls ICT Solution - A new software platform for the commercialisation of slow tourism products in Catalonia.
In the context of the Med Pearls project, TourKnife has developed new functionalities to help the DMCs of the project specialised in Slow tourism, as well as launching a website for requesting and booking experiences in one of the project areas: L'Anoia.
TourKnife is a software platform for managing and commercialising multi-day tours and activities, enabling small and medium operators to be in full control of all aspects of their businesses: B2C2B website, reservations, inventory, suppliers, clients, pricing, automating communications, etc. Together with other ICT companies, the company is one of the awarded-subgrantees of the Med Pearls project call for proposals for ICT solutions related to Slow Tourism. In this context, TourKnife has developed a customised solution for DMCs looking to digitalise their operations and start selling online their experiences and tours. This solution allows DMCS to configure a website where travellers and travel agencies will be able to explore their catalogue and request quotes or book directly online. Moreover, DMCs will be able to automate many of their processes such as sending documentation or keeping track of payments.
The idea came because currently, most SMEs that sell slow travel activities still manage their business with spreadsheets. An inefficient management system that makes companies not able to promote and sell their products online, perform repetitive manual tasks that could be automated, be more susceptible to human errors, and not being able to automate their repetitive processes. In this sense, the ICT solution proposed by TourKnife addresses the specific needs of slow travel DMCs while allowing them to make their processes more agile. Thus helping them in:
- Promoting, commercialising and managing their activities easier, faster and better.
- Making slow tourism experiences more attractive for tourists, since they will be able to check all the information, plan their trips and book them in combination or individually before their arrival if they wish
- Helping travellers to experience the regions of the project without having to dedicate time to planning while there
The solution has been created in coordination with the travel agency Turismo Vivencial. With them, TourKnife has created a website where travellers can find and book slow travel activities in the Anoia region. This website, which is connected to the backoffice of the ICT solution, offers slow travel activities such as family experiences, visits to wine cellars, balloon flights or local museums. Furthermore, thanks to this solution, the company hopes that all DMCs will be able to configure a website where travelers and travel agencies will be able to explore their catalogue and request quotes or book directly online. Moreover, DMCs can automate many of their processes such as sending documentation or keeping track of payments.
