Strongly desired by IFOAM Organics Europe, the Federation of organic associations at the European level, the day dedicated to organic becomes the occasion to reflect and share ideas and objectives related to a rapidly growing sector. In Italy, the organic sector recorded an increase in cultivated areas (+ 5.1%), internal consumption (+ 5%) and exports of organic Made in Italy (+ 11%).

The establishment of the European Organic Day is part of the initiatives envisaged by the EU Organic Action Plan, which makes available to all Member States a series of useful tools to support and promote the agroecological transition of European agriculture, encouraging each country to include measures to support the development of organic farming in the individual national strategic plans of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

"The European Organic Day is a further demonstration of the extent to which the EU plans to foster the organic sector" declared Maria Grazia Mammuccini, President of FederBio.
