CROSSDEV: supporting the development of local sustainable tourism services

Objective

The CROSSDEV project will develop 3 separated calls for sub-grants, in 3 different areas, and each one managed by a different partner:

MIAK - Masar Ibrahim Al Kalil - Palestine
Masar Ibrahim Al-Khalil Trail is the longest trail in the West Bank, and along the Path’s mostly rural corridor. This call will serve to establish the service providers such as home stays, women centers, MSMEs, to provide hikers & tourists with services suhc as hospitality, food, information, etc.

JREDS - The Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan - Jordan
The objective of this call is to support MSMEs, tour operators, protected areas/ touristic sites managers, women centers and local communities of Aqaba to increase and improve their offer of personalized products to the less known tourism destinations. 

APJM - Association for the Protection of Jabal Moussa - Lebanon
Sub-grants will be available for guesthouses in Jabal Moussa reserve to enhance the food and accommodation services they offer to hikers & tourists.

Potential beneficiaries

MIAK - Masar Ibrahim Al Kalil
Any individuals (natural person) or private organizations (legal person) located in the project target communities, between Beit Mersim and Battir which are: Beit Mirsim, al Kom, Sikeh, Deir el Assal, Deir Samet, Beit Roush alfoqa and Beit Rosh altahta, Beit awa, Tarkomia, Sooreif, Beit Ola, Edna, Jaba’a, Hussan, Wad Fokeen and Battir. They should be a MSME such as homestays, women centers, etc., capable of providing hikers & tourists with services such as hospitality, food, information, etc.

JREDS - The Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan  
MSMEs, tour operators, women centers applicants, local (traditional) food services, handicrafts, heritage preservation and restoration.

APJM - Association for the Protection of Jabal Moussa
Local guesthouses (existing and potential) around Jabal Moussa Biosphere Reserve.

Total available budget 

80,500 euro

Number of sub-grants and breakdown by country 

MIAK - Masar Ibrahim Al Kalil 
11 sub-grants with a minimum amount of 3700 NIS/1,000 euro each and a maximum amount of 11.100 NIS /3,000 euro

JREDS - The Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan
2 sub-grants of 15,000 euro each

APJM - Association for the Protection of Jabal Moussa
5 sub-grants (average 3,500 euro each)

Actions to be carried out with the sub-grants

MIAK - Masar Ibrahim Al Kalil
Action aimed to enhance capability of or establish service’s providers, including for example:

  • for homestays/accommodation facilities: purchase of furniture and small scale maintenance for the rooms, bathrooms, etc.
  • for women centers: small scale maintenance for the kitchen and purchase of equipment, etc. 
  • for other MSMEs: purchase of equipment, small scale maintenance, etc.

JREDS - The Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan 

  • For MSMEs, actions aimed to provide new services for the visitors or new experiences, for examples food, information, and tours, etc.
  • For women centres: support in the promotion and marketing of various products, maintenance for the kitchen and purchase of equipment, prepare organic products, medicinal plants, etc.

APJM - Association for the Protection of Jabal Moussa
Improvement of premises; supply of equipment, machines or accommodation and food supply sets, etc.

Selection criteria and award procedure

APJM - Association for the Protection of Jabal Moussa
The newly created “Adonis Route” and “Adonis path” in Lebanon needs an improvement of existing guesthouses around the cultural sites, and the establishment of new ones in specific locations. The call will search for solutions to these issues, and identified guesthouses will be invited to apply. The evaluation will include indicators to ensure sustainability of the service provided, alignment with the mission and values of the Biosphere Reserve.
