This project aims at developing products and services by both public and private sectors that allow people with disabilities to travel and enjoy new cultures and various locations as a basic human right. It also aims to educate both public and private sector employees of the needs and interests of people with disability and create linkages between a number of Mediterranean countries to help develop cross border itineraries for this group.
- Enhance accessibility in prime public tourism/cultural/archaeological sites
- Enhance accessibility options by various tourism service providers (hotels, spas, restaurants, transportation, etc.)
- Tap into medical and wellness tourism to create special products and packages
- Create new in-country and cross border itineraries, experiences and themes that cater for people with various disabilities
- Educate Tour operators and various service providers in both public and private sectors to better understand the needs and ways of people with disabilities during a tourism operation/function/activity
- Make use of technology for easier access and provision of information, as well as use of technology for ease of communication and physical access if needed
- A new tourism route/map created and more inclusive niche tourism programs and experiences developed in the Mediterranean
- Enhanced infrastructure that caters to people with different needs (locals and visitors)
- Higher inclusion in the workforce with better understanding and apprehension of the needs of people with disabilities
- Introduction of disability-friendly technologies and innovations to make tourism a smoother experience for people with disability
