MENAWARA participates in the celebration of the 2020 World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, promoted by United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.

On Wednesday June 17, NRD Nucleo di Ricerca sulla Desertificazione Università di Sassari (Desertification Research Centre, Univeristy of Sassari, that turns twenty this year), lead beneficiary of the project, and the Parco Nazionale dell'Asinara - Area Marina Protetta (Asinara National Park) organize at 12 P.M. an online webinar: "SDG-30 vs COVID-19: Opportunities from combating desertification" with some of the leading international experts on combating Desertification.

Previously, in the session "Water and Asinara" at 10 A.M., representatives of the local institutions and experts discussing the peculiar condition of the Sardinian island's water resources and future perspectives.

The event will be broadcasted on the platform https://www.asinarawebmeeting.it/ with simultaneous translation (ITA-ENG/ENG-ITA) for both sessions: the live web will air on the social and YouTube channels of MENAWARA, the Asinara National Park and NRD, and the materials related to the topics will be made available and downloadable. Desertification and Drought Day is observed every year from 1994 to promote public awareness of international efforts to combat desertification. Environmental protection and climate change adaptation and mitigation are the thematic objectives of the Day, the same as MENAWARA project funded by ENI CBC Med Programme.
