One of the top priorities of young Mediterranean people is employment. Not unprotected work or working in the informal economy. We refer to fair, decent and sustainable jobs which contribute to building social justice.

The EU-funded ENI CBC Med Programme reflects its commitment towards achieving more social justice in the Mediterranean area by funding projects related to social inclusion and the fight against poverty. Concretely, it currently funds 12 projects dealing with NEETS (Not in Education, Employment or Training) and women unemployment and supporting actors from the social and solidarity economy.

On 22nd of February from 11 am to 1 pm (CET), the ENI CBC Med Programme is organising a webinar to mark the United Nations' World Day of Social Justice. With this event, we would like to present active tools that help advance social justice and promote decent work opportunities through pilot projects in the fields of skills development, professional training, development of social services, etc.

Experts from both sides of the Mediterranean, including Tariq Haq, Senior Employment Policy Specialist at the International Labour Organisation will share data, good practices and new ideas for employment promotion as a pillar of social justice. In addition, the webinar will offer an outlook on the EU strategic programming related to job creation and social inclusion, notably in the framework the 2021-2027 Interreg NEXTMED Programme presently under preparation.

This webinar is open to any person interested in knowing more about what can be done to provide better employment opportunities and increase social justice in this Mediterranean area. Citizens, NGOs, international organisations, local authorities, social and solidarity economy actors are more than welcome to participate. Organisations which manage relevant projects on the topic are highly encouraged to take part.
