As part of its ongoing South-South Consultation “Vision Med 2030: Building a Shared Vision for the Mediterranean”, the EU-funded Programme ‘Med Dialogue for Rights and Equality’ is organising a public round table under the title “Building a Mediterranean Community, a Sterile Utopia or Our Common Destiny?”. The event will take place on Friday, 19 July from 5 pm at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, Les Côtes de Carthage - Gammarth - Tunis.

The debate will be preceded by the screening of an 11-minute film retracing the historical legacy of the Mediterranean Sea and will see the participation of several speakers from the Maghreb region. Representatives of civil society from five Arab countries - Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Libya and Tunisia - will be present at the debate.

Med Dialogue for Rights and Equality is a three-year (2019-2022) EU-funded Technical Assistance Programme with the overall objective to strengthen the role of CSOs active at the regional scale, in building sustainable development, regional cohesion and resilience, as well as in influencing policy-making in the Southern Neighborhood and the Euro-Mediterranean Space. Mobilising local communities on regional issues of common concerns to influence the agenda of public decision-makers and regional institutions, and involve CSOs in emerging regional agendas and thematic dialogues is its core attribute.
