Jordan: NAWAMED participates in the final conference of the ERASMUS + "EGREEN" project

The final conference of the EU-funded ERASMUS+ EGREEN project was held by the University of Jordan under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, Minister of Environment, on March 11, 2020 at the University of Jordan campus.

The purpose of the conference was to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experiences and best practices in the context of the water, energy and environment.

The conference was attended by high-ranking officials including the Minister of Environment, President of the University of Jordan, President of the Jordan University of Science and Technology, the Director of the National Erasmus+ office, and the representative of the EU Delegation in Jordan. In addition, the deans of different faculties participated at the conference.

The 100 registered participants in the conference represented more than 39 entities, including governments, universities, companies, funding agencies, associations, media and non-governmental organizations.

The conference opening ceremony took place in the morning with a welcome message from H.E. Dr.Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, Minister of Environment. The minister stressed on the importance of scientific efforts and building experiences and capacities for understanding and resisting the effects of climate change and building environmental solutions towards protecting our ecosystems.

A keynote speech to raise the awareness on "Nature Based Solutions for Domestic Water Reuse" was delivered by Prof. Abbas Al-Omari from the University of Jordan, the team member of NAWAMED project.  Participants from private sector and academia reacted positively to the new information and provided similar experiences in implemented projects in Jordan, with some discussions about their feasibility as regard to Jordan situation. It was agreed for further collaboration with participating experts during pilot installation within NAWAMED project.

I prefer that the conference be held periodically, so that to always kept up to date for the latest scientific research and developments on topics related to climate change, renewable energy and recycling of water use to preserve the environment.

 

I have attended a lot of conferences, this one is the best so far in speakers and contents. Thank you!
