The Centre for Cultural Heritage Preservation (CCHP) organised a local steering Committee meeting on 12th Nov 2020 at the CCHP offices and via zoom application. Representatives from Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority (PENRA), Environmental Quality Authority (EQA), Ministries of Local Council, Tourism, NGOs, and private companies attended the meeting. The steering committee discussed their roles in implementing BEEP project and their responsibilities highlighting the importance of their involvement in the implementation of the project and how to apply the BIM model in a set of buildings in Palestine.

Eng. Issam Juha, Director of CCHP, opened the meeting  welcoming the guests. He presented the BEEP project and highlighted the relevance of this project for the energy sector in Palestine. He highlighted that the BEEP project brings the opportunity to test the EE-HBIM (Energy Efficient Building Information Modelling) methodology in some heritage buildings, which will facilitate the introduction of these innovative techniques in Palestine through real case studies.

For this reason, the involvement of the main stakeholders of the Palestinian energy sector is important, through a Local Steering Committee that must have specific roles and meet periodically to follow up the progress of the BEEP project. In fact, the proposed roles for this Committee were as follows:
•    Provide suggestions and opinions that help the implementation of the BEEP project;
•    Provide the project implementing agency with the information they have available to them;
•    Adopting the energy efficiency model for heritage buildings;
•    Approving the work team policies.

CCHP engineers, Arch. Eyad Abo Zalaf and Eng. Yazan Shamroukh gave a presentation about the activities that were implemented including the energy and environmental analyses, briefly described what data have been collected and studied such as energy consumption, bills of the building, occupancy, lighting, equipment, (windows, doors, and walls specifications), use profile and weather data.
