A new cohort of start-ups has been selected in Italy to benefit from training sessions. After the first cohort in January 2021, where eight ideation-stage ideas where selected and the second cohort in May 2021, recruiting a total of 11 projects, the third group of participants have recently joined GIMED with a total of seven start-ups joining to receive support.

Out of a list with 18 ideation-stage project applications, Fondazione Comunità di Messina, which is our Italian partner in the region, selected 7 start-ups reaching the selection criteria and having a sufficient potential on green and social impact. As it already happened in the previous group of entrepreneurs selected, most of them come with ideas on sustainable agriculture and waste management.

To be specific, three projects are focusing on green agriculture and two in waste reduction. Apart from that, one project belongs to the cultural and tourism sector and the last one is focused on digital technology. In this stage, the third cohort of ideation-ideas will benefit from ten training sessions kicking off on the 10th of November and lasting until next January 2022, the 26th.

Entrepreneurs joining the project will receive a high quality training, based on the Green Business Model Canvas developed by the Regional Activity Center for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP/RAC), the Lead Beneficiary of the project together with FCM to integrate the social-green dimension. This methodology has been developed under the Switchmed Programme. GIMED project is funded by the EU under the ENI CBC MED Programme.
