 On the 16th of February 2021, Kfar Saba municipality (Israel) is launching the City Support Group meeting sessions of the SME4SMARTCITIES project co-funded by the ENI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme. The project engages cities and innovative SME companies from Mediterranean countries to increase the collaboration between SMEs and the Public Sector to develop innovative, sustainable solutions to urban challenges faced by cities today.

In these meetings, will be discussed the practical tools to make Mediterranean SMEs work together to make cities smarter, to develop sustainable solutions and to address urban challenges and barriers by providing innovative ideas.

This is the kick-off meeting of local and international municipal focus groups for cities. The groups will focus on finding solutions while developing collaboration between large and small cities. These meetings will host mentors and professional keynote speakers to provide know-how and lead a fruitful discussion.

Cities that take part will:

  • Participate in presenting, discussing, and solving shared challenges and barriers that were found persistent across the Mediterranean;
  • Participate in Smart Cities Innovation and Green Procurement training programs for Cities and for small innovative companies (SMEs). The cross-Mediterranean training program is being designed by a consortium of partners from participating countries, led by Tel Aviv University’s Urban Innovation and Sustainability Lab;
  • Take part in the call for initiatives that will result in SMEs developing new solutions for smart cities.
