The risk committee for IPMED project held its first virtual meeting last week to assess the risks the project is likely to face, and to determine the priority actions, and accordingly evaluate, analyze and monitor the proposed plans. 

The committee consists of five members representing all partners including the chairman, and it will help in minimizing the impact of threats to successful delivery; implementing the project on time and on-budget and ensure the quality of outputs and results envisaged. 

Several topics were discussed during the meeting including the quality of the data being gathered for the Intellectual Property Rights related needs assessment of the target groups of the project (MSMEs, start-ups, youths and women entrepreneurs)  and the necessity to have precise and representative samples among the partners to attain the optimum assessment results. The team therefore agreed on extending the data collection task until the end of July, allowing partners to encourage more SMEs to engage in the surveying process.

Moreover, Agora Institute confirmed its readiness to conclude the elaboration of collected data in August, so that the team can obtain a full picture of all stakeholders and target groups. 

The Committee also discussed conducting local workshops and awareness sessions, which was a hot topic to certain extent. The involved partners confirmed using  virtual platform tools in this activity in order to be compliant with  social distancing due to the coronavirus  (COVID-19) pandemic.

Two Awareness sessions will be conducted by the third quarter of 2020, one in August and the other in September. The aim is to enable the attendees facilitate access to Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), enhance commercialization, and strengthen IPR-related knowledge and awareness.

The contribution in raising the visibility of IPMED project and developing synergies with other relevant transnational projects were also discussed and agreed on by the committee.  

IPMED project is implemented by a consortium of organizations where JEDCO of Jordan is the leader, and in partnership with Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Greece, FILSE in Italy, Agora Institute in Spain and Tunis Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Tunisia. The project's budget is 1.194 million Euros, funded by the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme for the Mediterranean Basin within the European Neighborhood Instrument (ENI CBC MED), to develop small-and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), promote economic and social development and support innovative entrepreneurs’ projects.
