An ecotourism village composed of several sleeping clay units with a dispensary and a classroom to serve local families. In addition to that, Swimming pools are closed inside the muddy halls open to the ceiling and some are inside the residential units.
A vegetable farm adopts the concept of farming in the desert in salty sand, which has proven successful through SAHARA project in Aqaba. and center specializes in hiking and the proposed paths between the village and Petra.
About Wadi Araba and Site characteristics:
Wadi Araba is considered as a part of the Jordanian cemetery that extends from the Yarmouk River in the north to Aqaba in the south, with a length of 370 km. It is part of the rocky range that formed the Jordan Valley and extends to the Beka’a Valley region in Syria and Lebanon.
Geology of Wadi Araba is distinguished by its sandy and gravel surface with crumbs, and covered by granite rocks along the valley, especially in the eastern regions.
Demographics of Wadi Araba:
The population of the Jordanian side is estimated at 103,000, of whom 96,000 are in Aqaba, and the remainder is distributed in clusters: Qurayqara, Fenan, Risha, Rahma, Bir al-Mathkour, Grundel, Qatar, and Ghuwaibah.
75 percent of them are below the poverty line and without education and proper health care. It hosts a large number of Syrian refugees families who live in tents and work on desert farms.
Touristic characteristics:
Wadi Arabah occupies a strategic location linking the Red Sea with the Dead Sea and the archaeological site of Petra. Where you can reach from the village of Risha to the city of Petra on foot within one day.
Where the mountain area in Wadi Araba is considered one of the most important wild environmental sites because it contains astonishing colorful waterways and many rare mountain plants. It is the only place is suitable for a development opportunity of the hiking sport in Jordan.

The project will attract the government's interest in developing the area as it has become a touristic and environmental landmark serving local families as king Abdullah II vision for wadi Araba region.
The project will reduce the increasing environmental and tourism burden in Wadi Rum, which receives hundreds of thousands of tourists annually, which affects the environmental and cultural heritage there.
The strategic location of the village will add a new destination for local tourists on the path of Irbid - Dead Sea - Wadi Araba - Aqaba. Like the path of Amman - Petra - Wadi Rum - Aqaba. As there is no tourist in Jordan, but wants to visit the Dead Sea, Petra and Aqaba.
The project will contribute to conserve and promote the cultural heritage of the Bedouins in south of Jordan, new employment opportunities for locals and refugees, and develop the hiking sport.
The region is inhabited by Bedouin families and some Syrian refugee families form a harmonious society that coexists very well.
As it is expected that the Syrian families will work on the farm and housekeeping inside the village. Bedouin families will work for the reception and operate village activities.
