Liban : MEDSt@rts construit un réseau d'acteurs de la microfinance

In order to create a transnational network of microfinance actors across the Mediterranean, MEDSt@rts project is promoting online meetings in each target area with the aim of involving the different stakeholders and discussing the main issues related to the support to not bankable people.

The Lebanese partner, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Saida and South Lebanon, organised online events on 7, 11, 13 and 18 May.

16 organisations participated in the events: Economic & Social Fund for Development – ESFD; Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Zahle and Bekaa; IM Capital; Lebanese League for Women in Business(LLWB); Vitas Lebanon; Al Majmoua; Berytech; The Nawaya Network - Hamra main street; Makhzoumi Foundation, Beirut, Mazraa, Zreik St., Makhzoumi Bldg.; Emkan Finance s.a.l. – Lebanon; Lebanese Micro_ Finance Association, Beirut hamra street; Entrepreneurial Development Foundation; Safadi Foundation; Business Incubation Association in Tripoli; Professional Mutual Aid Association; South Business Innovation Center.

In every meeting, after a short introduction of each institution and a brief description of the MEDSt@rts project and of the aim of the networking activities, the actors discussed the role of microfinance,  the selection of non-bankable entrepreneurs, technical assistance and next steps of the project (calls, international forum and piloting activities).

The microfinance institutions were fully attracted and engaged during the meeting. Furthermore, they had a profound interest to know more about MEDSt@rts: due to the economic crisis Lebanon is facing the microfinance actors showed interest in supporting aspiring entrepreneurs and start-ups.
