The new COMMON platform is now online to share data and good practices on marine litter across the Mediterranean. The aim of the platform is to offer a common methodology for the organisation of cleaning days and monitoring activities, in order to have data in the same format and to make cleaning up events in a coordinated way.

The platform can be visited at the following link www.commonproject.it.

It is already rich in content: from news to press review, from the planned monitoring and citizen science activities to the beach litter manual, a guide that allows to get preliminary information for the study of the marine litter issue, and particularly focusing on quantity, trends and possible sources, in relation with the European Directive about Marine Strategy (2008/56 / CE).

The central core of the platform is an integrated map, which will allow visitors to obtain information on the places where the COMMON project activities will take place. Soon, the sampling areas of fish commercial species - useful for assessing the presence of microplastics and the impact they have on species - and the Marine Turtle Rescue Centres involved in the project will be included.

Furthermore, as soon as the beach litter and beach cleaning activities are restored, it will be possible to keep track of the places where it will be possible to participate in order to contribute to a cleaner sea.

Finally, you can learn more about the COMMON project through photos of its protagonists, interviews and communication materials such as the flyer and the official brochure.
