CROSSDEV clean-up campaign in Jordan with partner JREDS, phase II

While we are still facing challenges in organising gatherings, meetings with community members and carrying out in-person activities due to the Covid-19 situation, we strongly believe that it is important to keep up with our project, always complying to all health guidelines of our governments.

So, CROSSDEV partner JREDS – The Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan – keeps planning its activities within the project in the coastal city of Aqaba, Southern Jordan.

Following the first phase of its beach clean-up campaign, on August 25th 2020, JREDS will carry out the second phase in the Islamic Ayla city, one of the project sites, in cooperation with the Department of Antiquities and the local community.

The clean-up campaign aims at involving local volunteers in the clean-up of some of the archeological sites of the CROSSDEV project. This will be a way to enhance the importance of the sites, to highlight the beauty of local gems among the citizens and to make sure the sites will be ready to welcome new tourists in the best way.

When: 25th August 2020, between 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Where: Aqaba City-Islamic Ayala City

Who: around 20 volunteers
