CROSSDEV: an exhibition to explore centuries of sustainable interaction between Man and Nature
"Life on the mountain" - a cultural exhibit at the Louis Cardahi Foundation Center, Phoenicians' Center in Byblos, Lebanon.
As part of the CROSSDEV - Cultural Routes for Sustainable, Social and Economic Development in Mediterranean - project, funded by the European Union through the ENI CBC MED Programme, and in collaboration with the Phoenicians' Route Center in Byblos, the Louis Cardahi Foundation and the Association for the Protection of Jabal Moussa (APJM, Lebanese partner of CROSSDEV) are organizing a cultural exhibit in the Foundation's center in Byblos.
The exhibit, open for visitors starting 18 December 2020, welcomes visitors on a journey to explore centuries of sustainable interaction between Man and Nature in Jabal Moussa UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and the legendary Valley of Adonis.
The exhibit includes panels on 7 different themes:
- The Archaeology of the Mountain
- Life on the Mountain through Time
- Exploiting the Mountain
- The Bountiful Mountain: Crops and Livestock
- The Power of the Mountain
- Moving on and off the Mountain
- The Sacred Mountain.
The content of the panels was developed with the support of the Swedish Institute.
The visitors are also invited to get to know more about fauna and flora species, as well as cultural sites, through photos and panels displayed on the walls of the center. A documentary on the CROSSDEV project progress and findings is featured in the conference room of the center.
The joint exhibit is an attestation of the historical links between Byblos and the Valley of Adonis, and the close links between the Association for the Protection of Jabal Moussa and the Phoenicians' Route.
