Jabal Moussa, a destination that might not sound familiar or popular, Yet!

Do you remember the time you went travelling and got lost in the right direction? When you went back telling your friend or your followers about this hidden gem you discovered.

Today, we have got you one more uniquely-shaped adventure to add to your list.

A destination where ancient cultures are still thriving amid lofty-green mountains and laden-misty valleys, where more influences from the Roman Byzantine, and Ottoman Empire has just been discovered by a team of international and local archaeologists.

In addition, visiting this destination will not be merely an individual satisfaction, but it will contribute to various cultural/ecological developments within the region due to the ENI CBC Med programme.

The guided hiking experience among this jewel will not be as ordinary as other treks, hiker’s footpath begins from one of the 7 Surrounding Villages that embodies the authentic spirit of Lebanese oriental architectural houses (where you might be staying at the end of your day alongside a glass of local wine and a homemade flavoursome dish).

The more the hike goes up, the more natural and cultural sites will start to appear, notably the old Roman Stairs, the longest stretch of Roman road in Lebanon that will be at some point one part of your footpath.

More than 770 plants and 19 mammal’s species are going to be your companion all over the course of your adventure, and perhaps some archaeologists with their Ottoman and Phoenician findings.

Not to mention that Jabal Moussa region was described by the French historian Ernest Renan as the “wildest region” of Lebanon, therefore beholding this Mediterranean mountainous scenery is a vastly unique experience.

The engagement of local communities brought Jabal Moussa reserve the “2020 traveller’s choice” award on Trip advisor. Organizers supplied the reserve with essential tourism standards such as trails and facilities, accommodations services and others benefit in order to entice adventuresome travellers to visit.
