Slow Tourism is a rather new concept, however this does not mean that there isn't a list of pioneer destinations worldwide that have already proved this approach to sustainable tourism to be highly successful. 

In this chapter, the research explores how different destinations present to their travellers a Slow Tourism offer, to latter be able to present guidelines for destinations that seek to potentiate a tourism offer of this kind. The destinations chosen are the following ones:

1. The Ajloun Forest Reserve, in Jordan.
2. Bohinj, in Slovenia.
3. Fethiye, in Turkey.
4. Isle of Wight, in the United Kingdom.
5. Morges Region, in Switzerland.
6. Seine-et-Marne, in France.

These 6 destinations allow the research to investigate Slow Tourism in a wide array of landscapes (from inland regions like Seine-et-Marne in France, to coastal areas like Fethiye in Turkey, and island landscapes like the Isle of Wight in the United Kingdom); thus, showing that Slow Tourism practices are not limited to a specific kind of landscape, and can be spread to different sort of destinations.

The document guides the reader to a better understanding of the different characteristics of these Slow Tourism destinations by analysing topics like population and demographics of the region, mobility options and infrastructure of the destination, annual visitor figures, list of main attractions, gastronomy culture, activities and events, etc. This approach allows the reader to find common practices between the destinations as well as their main differences.

A point particularly interesting of the investigation is how the destinations promote themselves, and what bodies and strategies lead their tourism and Slow Tourism management. The reader will find that almost all destinations present some distinctions, that either come from the UNESCO, and international and local tourism associations. Furthermore, the research also presents how an accommodation offer that fits the Slow Tourism philosophy is common in almost all destinations.
