NAWAMED: kick-off meeting and press conference
The NAWAMED project’s kick off meeting will be held on the 26th, 27th and 28 of November 2019 in Latina, Italy.
The three days of the KoM will be dedicated to illustrate objectives and expected results of the project. The meeting will be vital as it will be an opportunity for the Work Packages’ leaders to organise and plan the work with the other partners taking in account the important work to develop. In fact, the main objective of the project is to increase the adoption of innovative, sustainable, water-efficiency and low-cost technologies and measures for the use of non-conventional water resources (NCWR) for domestic purposes. Thus partner are committed and will be followed by the Lead Partner, Latina Province, and by WPs’ Leaders, Iridra, Svi.Med.onlus, Certe and SEWCU to reach these specific objectives:
- Demonstrating the technical and economic feasibility of decentralized solutions (at building scale)for the treatment and reuse of non-conventional water resources (storm and grey water)
- Transferring to practitioners information and know-how, and building capacity in local authoritiesfor boosting the use of decentralized NCWR in urban water management practices;
- Building consensus among the key water actors and policy makersfor paving the road towards new local and national policies aimed at spreading a more sustainable water management approach in the domestic sector.
In particular they have to organize the activities in order to fix a timetable for building 8 pilot installations, 2 in Italy, 2 in Lebanon, 1 in Jordan and 1 in Tunisia, in particular 3 Horizontal flow Constructed Wetland for grey water and Free Water flow for storm water and 5 Vertical Green Wall for grey water treatment.
The pilot interventions will be used - during and after the project - as showcase and training facilities to promote replication.
National and international communication campaigns will spread the projects related issues, thus in this sense a first press conference will be held in the morning of the 26th of November at the Province of Latina headquarters, to start the KoM.
