MAIA TAQA Detailed design of the pilot project - Amman

The MAIA-TAQA project focuses on developing and defining a range of innovative services in the field of resource efficiency (RE), by setting up demonstrators in 3 Mediterranean pilot areas, in Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan. This report illustrates a pilot project implemented in Jordan with the aim of improving and upgrading the provision of power at the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JOCC) main building in Amman by installing a Building Integrated Photovoltaic System (BIPV).

MAIA TAQA Detailed design of the pilot project - Lebanon

MAIA-TAQA has implemented demonstrator pilot projects in Lebanon, Egypt and Jordan, which have significantly advanced the cause of sustainability and resource efficiency within small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Mediterranean countries. This report provides the main features of the detail design of the Lebanese pilot project in the framework of Work Package 3 (WP3) - "Development of sustainable services in the Mediterranean area".
The pilot project in Lebanon consisted of a construction of a Waste Water Treatment Plant for the Industrial Research Institute (IRI) building, and the reuse of the treated water for irrigation purposes, with the objective to fulfill the following priorities:
- Efficient system with the best quality for price ratio
- Innovative technology for treatment, monitoring of treated water &
valorisation of sludge
- Large potential of application in local context

MAIA TAQA Final Report

The MAIA-TAQA project, focused on developing and defining a range of innovative services in the field of resource efficiency (RE), has significantly advanced the cause of sustainability and resource efficiency within Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) across the Mediterranean countries and it has successfully executed demonstrator pilot projects in Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan. The achievements of these pilot projects have been showcased through various impactful initiatives. This final report illustrates the Pilot Implementation Analysis, the impact on innovative Resource Efficiency solutions (capacity building, the Innovation One Stop Shop initiative, B2B events), highlighting the challenges and lessons learned.

MAIA-TAQA Resources Efficiency Market Assessment Report

The MAIA-TAQA project focuses on developing and defining a range of innovative services in the field of resource efficiency (RE), by setting up demonstrators in 3 Mediterranean pilot areas, in Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan. The "Resources efficiency market assessment report" provides a comprehensive overview on the selected RE services in each pilot country, the RE market situation, the RE production state, the distribution methods, the incentive and financing methods, the challenges and barriers facing the RE services implementation and the RE prospects. The data collected and analysed show that there are significant opportunities in the three pilot countries for the development of these services. The study also shows the governments’ efforts in supporting the services through different incentives and financing mechanisms, in addition to the challenges and barriers that need to be taken into consideration to develop a well-established RE eco-system.

Catalogue of solutions available for the hospitality industry - Water and Energy saving technologies

The project partners have jointly defined a common transnational service to analyze innovative technologies/services/products that combine water and energy for the hotel industry that have great potential and that can be easily replicated in the smallest SMEs.
The GreeninMed project has selected a list of technologies, services and products to
support savings in water and energy consumption in the Mediterranean touristic
SMEs. The structure of the Benchmark presenting each technology is the following
one:
• Technology general description,
• Advantages &disadvantage to estimate the feasibility installing the technology.
• The “potential use in hotel industry”
• Performance and savings potentially achievable applying the technology.
• References about manufacturers/providers of the technology

Identification and collection of SMEs’ offers and Needs

Collection of at least 80 Open Innovation opportunities (solutions and offers) in the platform to promote partnerships, open innovation, and faster uptake of research results. The activity will identify solutions and needs from SMEs and start-ups that have interest to set up collaborations at cross border level with emphasis to key sustainability areas. To achieve a balanced geographical spread, the programme will design a model that will allow to categorize different needs and solutions.

Pilot Re-use Open (PRO) Market

INNOMED-UP proposes to work with Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) to shift local urban economies towards the principles of the circular economy, including optimal use of material resources, innovation enhancement for SMEs, knowledge transfer among cities, social inclusion and citizens’ engagement. The document illustrates the open market events organized in Tunis (Tunisia) and Prato (Italy) aimed at promoting economic activity, showcasing the businesses and products of the sub-beneficiaries and promoting community engagement towards up cycling and innovation.

Pilot Clusters

INNOMED-UP proposes to work with Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) to shift local urban economies towards the principles of the circular economy, including optimal use of material resources, innovation enhancement for SMEs, knowledge transfer among cities, social inclusion and citizens’ engagement.
This document contains the methodology guidelines for the pilot clustering intervention for WP5 (work package 5), wich is the project work-package that tests previous outcomes, by translating all project gathered city circular economy data, into a pilot project to be implemented through a pre-identified cluster road map strategy. The document illustrates the results obtained during the execution of the INNOMED-UP project in the pilots implemented in Greece, Italy, Tunisia, Palestine, Jordan.

CCI SMEs’ clustering roadmaps for each city

INNOMED-UP proposes to work with Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) to shift local urban economies towards a circular production and consumption paradigm including optimal use of material resources, innovation enhancement for SMEs, knowledge transfer among cities, social inclusion and citizens’ engagement. The project works at a cross-border level supporting both technological developments and traditional recycling practices.
This documents contains a drafting of 6 clustering roadmaps, one per each participating city (Athens, Prato, Palermo, Tunis, Hebron and Nablus Cities, Irbid). For each of them there is an illustratation of the analysis of components and layers based on the survey, the roadmap strategy development and its implementation.

Info points for consultation of SMEs

INNOMED-UP info points are self-contained units, containing hardware and software that allow project stakeholders to easily access project information and interpretation. In particular, these info points aspire to operate as consultation offices for the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) SMEs in order to permit them to access foreign investments (such as European funding, bank loans or other initiatives) and to enhance community and stakeholders' engagement. Two info points have been established; one in Palermo and one in Amman. The online info points can be easily accessible either on computers or on smartphones.

INNOMED-UP Strategic Context Report

The INNOMED-UP project tackles the production of waste in Mediterranean Cities by helping them adopt Circular Economy (CE) solutions. In particular, the project proposes to work with the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) to shift local urban economies towards a circular production and consumption paradigm (optimal use of material resources, innovation enhancement for SMEs, knowledge transfer among Med-cities, social inclusion and citizens’ engagement).
The present Report provides an extensive review on CCIs, as well as existing policies and synergies between CE and CCIs at Mediterranean and EU level.
